Sunday summary

This week has been colour and pattern filled. After a bit of a meltdown at Wednesday's tutorial I have now (hopefully) (fingers crossed) finished off the story board for the sequence and I am feeling much better about how it looks now. I have made a new batch of magnets with some new designs and I headed back to Battlesbridge for a lovely oak drawer set and some more postcards. I also managed to pick up some retro knitting patterns, I'll do a knitting update soon. Here is a summary in pictures....

Sunday summary

What an amazing, crafty and inspiring weekend! I really feel as though I have achieved something this weekend. I had a fabulous day with friends in Battlesbridge yesterday and managed to come away with a few goodies (I had to be very restrained) I dug out a couple of lovely tins - one I have put to good use already with my letterpress letters in it. I also found a wonderful stash of vintage postcards - I could have spent hours flicking through them but managed to restrict myself to 6. Some of them have the full original addresses on them and the messages that were written! One of them reads :

My Dear Bill, Just a  few lines this week. I'm hoping to find you in the best of health, as it leaves me at present quite ill. I had no news from you last week, hope there is nothing to prevent you writing. I suppose you have not heard any news of coming home yet? I do wish you could write and say you would be home for Christmas but I suppose we shall be together one Christmas. I think that is all for now, hoping to hear from you this week, my love Beatrice xxx

It is dated 25.10.12. Lovely. One the oldest ones I selected is dated 1909 - amazing! :)

Today I learnt to knit! I am busy with my sequences at the moment but I'm looking forward to a good 'ole knit later on! Here's a bit of a summary in pictures.

Printing Play around

I had a play around with some water based printing inks - mono printing. I was not very impressed with the results but hey - there's room for improvement

How much is too much...

...when it comes to hobbies??

I've decided that this year is the year to knit, crochet and sew. I'm looking forward to my knitting workshop on Sunday (I'm nearly 30 now is the time to feel fine about learning such skills!) But it has started me wondering how many hobbies is too much?

I love hobbies and interests and new things - I get bored very easily and thrive on new situations and knowledge and so I'm inclined to think that any amount is fine!

Beyond super bulky handspun yarn in merino wool - 40 yards
Hmmm new wool! :)

Today was a weird day. I didn't feel I was much further down the line with my sequence from last week and today's tutorial pretty much confirmed that but did give me some good new ideas to be able to move on with. Now to set aside some dedicated time this weekend to get on with it! I've also got some new techniques and (I'm now out of the 'Dummy' category!) with Photoshop - yey! Watch this space!

For the meantime here's a rather lovely Swan and a very confused Cocker Spaniel (not hard to do!)
From the aptly named Swanpool in Cornwall - a beautiful place!

It was all a bit too much for him - ear appreciation!

I hope you're all hunting out there...
